Port Douglas Map at a Glance

Port Douglas sits on a small peninsula, with Four Mile Beach along its eastern side and Dickson Inlet to the west. Macrossan Street runs through the centre, the marina is on the inlet side, and Flagstaff Hill is at the northern tip. Everything in town is within walking or short driving distance.

“Port Douglas is a small town — but it’s one of those places where smallness is a feature, not a limitation. Everything worth knowing is within reach, and the layout of the place feels like it was designed for exploration on foot.”

Port Douglas Map — Find Your Way Around This Compact Tropical Town

Port Douglas occupies a small peninsula that juts into the Coral Sea, with Four Mile Beach running along its eastern edge and the Dickson Inlet estuary shaping its western and northern boundaries. This geography gives the town a clear and intuitive structure — once you understand the peninsula shape, orientation becomes second nature and you’ll find your way around with ease.

The Town Centre — Macrossan Street and Wharf Street

The heart of Port Douglas is Macrossan Street, which runs east-west across the peninsula from the boat harbour at its western end towards the beach at its eastern end. This is where you’ll find the majority of the town’s cafés, restaurants, boutiques, and services. Wharf Street runs parallel to the waterfront and leads to Rex Smeal Park, St Mary’s by the Sea, and the town’s foreshore areas. The intersection of Macrossan Street and Wharf Street is effectively the town’s central hub.

Four Mile Beach — The Eastern Edge

Heading east along Macrossan Street leads you directly to Four Mile Beach, the town’s famous beach that stretches for four glorious kilometres along the eastern edge of the peninsula. The main beach access point, Surf Club, and patrolled swimming area are at the northern end of the beach access road. A walking path follows the beach edge back towards the main township.

The Marina and Superyacht Precinct

At the western end of Macrossan Street and heading south-west, you’ll find the Crystalbrook Superyacht Marina and Marina Mirage shopping complex. This is where reef tour vessels depart each morning, and the precinct includes restaurants, boutiques, and the Reef Visitor Information Hub. It’s a 10-to-15 minute walk from the main Macrossan Street area.

Key Landmarks to Orient By

A few key landmarks help with navigation throughout the town. Anzac Park (home to the Sunday Markets) sits at the northern foreshore junction of Wharf Street. The Court House Museum is at the corner of Macrossan and Wharf Streets. St Mary’s by the Sea is at the waterfront end of Wharf Street. And Flagstaff Hill at the southern tip of the peninsula offers a panoramic view over the entire town and surrounding coastline — an excellent orientation point for first-time visitors.

A Hot Getaways destination. Where Care is Our Compass.

Travel Kindly

At Hot Getaways, care is our compass — and a little kindness makes every journey better. When you visit Port Douglas, we gently ask you to:

  • Protect the reef — wear reef-safe sunscreen and never touch or stand on the coral.
  • Respect the wildlife — admire the birds, turtles and rainforest creatures from a distance, and take your rubbish home with you.
  • Support local — choosing local operators, cafés and guides helps this beautiful town thrive.
  • Honour Country — we travel on the traditional lands and sea Country of Australia’s First Peoples, with gratitude and respect to the Traditional Custodians past and present.
  • Be kind to each other — a smile, a little patience and a helping hand make the day lovelier for everyone.

Small acts of care add up to something wonderful. Thank you for travelling kindly.
