Dive Lessons Port Douglas
Dive Lessons Port Douglas offers an amazing purpose-built training facility to learn scuba diving. This is a 5-star PADI IDC scuba diving training facility. Courses start every Tuesday and Wednesday at 8:30 a.m.
Scuba diving is the ultimate adventure and the best way to explore the beauty of the Great Barrier Reef. Two options are available for Dive lessons in the Port Douglas PADI Open Water Certification course.
Option 1 is a three-day course with the theory component as eLearning online, which is perfect for getting certified if you are short on time.
The online eLearning platform reduces the time spent in the classroom by a whole day and enables you to study the theory component at your own pace.
Option 2 is over four days with the theory component held in the Port Douglas Dive Centre classroom, day 2 in the pool and days 3 and 4 on the Great Barrier Reef!
OPTION 1 – 3 day eLearning Open Water PADI Course
The course comprises the eLearning theory, a day of training in the pool at the brand-new Port Douglas dive facility, and two full-day trips to the Outer Great Barrier Reef.
Students will complete four compulsory training dives as part of the course and two fun dives at some of the most pristine dive sites on the outer reef.
Days two and three are on the Great Barrier Reef aboard a modern dive catamaran, during which you will complete four training dives under the direct supervision of your instructor.
Once your booking is confirmed, you will receive login details for the online PADI eLearning platform. This platform is where you will complete the compulsory theory component of your open water certification BEFORE the practical pool training.
The first day in the pool is at the Port Douglas dive facility, where you will put your eLearnings into practice, geared up and in the dive pool.
The dive course comprises two components:
- PADI eLearning (login details supplied after the booking)
- 1 x day of testing and pool training
- 2 x day trips to the Outer Great Barrier Reef
OPTION 2 – 4-day Open Water PADI Course
The first two days of the course are at the diver training centre, where you will learn dive theory in the classroom and the necessary skills for scuba diving in the pool.
Days three and four are on the Great Barrier Reef aboard a modern dive catamaran, during which you will complete four training dives under the direct supervision of your instructor.
At the end of Day 4, you will be a PADI Open Water Diver! You will potentially have the opportunity to do an additional two pleasure dives as a certified diver.
The course comprises two components:
- Two days of classroom and pool training
- 2 x 1-day trips to the Outer Great Barrier Reef

Quicksilver Dive, Port Douglas
Quicksilver Dive is located at 19 Warner Street, Port Douglas, Queensland 4877
- Ability to swim – 200m (or 300m with a mask, fins and snorkel) and tread water (float) for 10 minutes
- Minimum age of ten years.
- The eLearning component takes approximately 6-8 total hours to complete BEFORE you begin your practical training in the pool.
MEDICAL CONDITIONS FOR SCUBA DIVING
We have a passion for showing you Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, so please make sure you understand the scuba diving laws.
Queensland, Australia, has some of the strictest scuba diving rules globally and the safest scuba diving record. The Queensland Government Code of Practice regulates us and comply with all regulations, including medical as is the law.
We strongly recommend that passengers complete our dive medical questionnaire before booking as some medical conditions, age, and medications may prevent you from scuba diving. Our mission is always to provide our passengers with the very best Great Barrier Reef experience.

If you require a dive medical, it must be obtained before commencing the course and must not be more than 90 days old when you start with us.
Flying after Scuba Diving
For a single no decompression scuba dive, you should not fly or go to altitude for at least 18 hours after a scuba dive. You should not fly for 24 hours after your last dive for multiple dives.
If Skydiving or Hot Air Ballooning, you must wait 24 hours after your dive.
We recommend waiting a minimum of 24 hours whenever possible.
